Lone Star Story Hour

June 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CDT

Free

Join us for a compelling story of little known but consequential people, places and events from across Texas, hosted by Tess Coody-Anders. For this month’s story, we will be transported to the Big Thicket of East Texas and the world of I.C. Eason, dubbed King of the Dog People. Tess will share the history and culture of the Dog People and their fight to save their way of life from ruthless timber and oil companies.  Come explore the darkness and beauty of this biologically threatened and culturally fascinating part of Texas which boasts a history rich with outlaws and jayhawkers, scofflaws and preservationists, backwoodsmen and barons.
