Hiram Wilson arrived in Seguin in 1856 as one of Presbyterian Minister John M. Wilson’s 19 enslaved workers. Four years later, a freed Hiram would launch H. Wilson & Company Pottery, Texas’ first Black-owned business. There, he would pioneer new techniques in pottery-making and branding. Join us again on Feb. 22 to meet Paula King Harper, Hiram’s descendant and President of the Wilson Pottery Foundation.
