Lone Star Story Hour: Hiram Wilson & Company Leave Their Mark

February 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

Free

Hiram Wilson arrived in Seguin in 1856 as one of Presbyterian Minister John M. Wilson’s 19 enslaved workers. Four years later, a freed Hiram would launch H. Wilson & Company Pottery, Texas’ first Black-owned business. There, he would pioneer new techniques in pottery-making and branding. At this month’s Lone Star Story Hour, we’ll share the story of the figures behind the H. Wilson Pottery Company, and their lasting impact on Guadalupe County. Join us again on Feb. 22 to meet Paula King Harper, Hiram’s descendant and President of the Wilson Pottery Foundation.
