Lone Star Story Hour: The “Mad” Madame & San Antonio’s Sporting District

March 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

$5.00

This month’s Lone Star Story Hour explores the plight of women working in San Antonio’s red light district in the late 19th century through the story of Emilia Garza, the Madame who blew the whistle on the city’s efforts to profit illegally off of brothels. Garza won her suit against political boss and Mayor Brian “King” Callahan – only to suffer devastating repercussions.

Seating is limited, and we have added a nominal ticket fee to ensure those who most want to attend find seating. Thank you for understanding!
