Lori Bohning is hosting a workshop here at Pecantown to offer support to widows in the Seguin area. Her ministry, Beauty from Ashes, has partnered with us to provide Christ centered support to widows in their grieving process, secondary losses, and beyond into empowering widows in the process of re-engaging in life. Beauty from Ashes Ministries meets every widow right where they are in their grief journey. We do this by offering a safe place for widows of all ages to connect with one another as they begin to discover what God can do with a heart that is His.
This month Kassie is sharing the incredible book, American Heiress by Jeffrey Toobin. Patty Hearst is a newspaper heiress who was kidnapped in 1974 by the Symbionese Liberation Army, a domestic terrorist group. Her case gained international notoriety when she appeared to adopt the group’s radical ideology, changed her name to “Tania,” and was photographed participating in a bank robbery. After being convicted of armed robbery and serving time in prison, she was pardoned and has since lived a private life, working as an author and actress.

A New Fatherland: German Freedom Under the Texas Sky
A sprawling epic set in California's Salinas Valley, John Steinbeck's East of Eden chronicles the intertwined lives of two families, the Trasks and the Hamiltons, as they struggle with themes of good versus evil and free will. The novel serves as a modern retelling of the biblical story of Cain and Abel, with each generation of the Trask family reenacting the jealous rivalry between the two brothers.
"The Exorcism Files" by Adam Blai is a collection of true stories and first-hand accounts of demonic oppression and possession, written from the perspective of a Catholic lay expert who assists priests with exorcisms.
This will be a hybrid W&TC along with an author meeting! Join us for a 30 minute discussion of the book then, we will call and remote video chat with the Authors of "Shadow of the Bridge!"
