    This month, Tess and the Literary Fiction Book Club is reading Kate Quinn's book, The Astral Library. It is a genre-bending departure into magical realism centering on a destitute young woman who discovers a hidden portal inside the Boston Public Library. This magical sanctuary allows the lost and desperate to literally escape their hardships by choosing to live inside public-domain classics, but the protagonist must quickly team up with the resident Librarian to defend the realm against a bureaucratic Board threatening its existence.
